Serengeti Outpost

Busch Gardens Tampa

A large draw for visitors to Busch Gardens is the 60 acre Serengeti Plain, where a number of species including wildebeest, zebra, southern white rhinos, and giraffes freely roam. Guests board an open top vehicle and are able to view the animals up close, and do hand feedings of the giraffes. When the park decided to provide a permanent home to house their operations, Meyer Associates was asked to design the facility. This building includes a sales area and a waiting area for guests prior to heading over to board their tour vehicle. This building was designed to set the tone for a new realm adjacent to the Serengeti Plan, which later included the Animal Care Center. The facility was designed to provide a visual connection to African mud hut construction, while the waiting portion was designed to have the feel of a safari tent.
