Sulphur Springs Gazebo
City of Tampa
The Sulphur Springs Gazebo is a local landmark on the Hillsborough River in Tampa that was built near the old Sulphur Springs pool. It was originally built in the 1920’s and contained a spring-fed fountain at the base which allowed tourists to drink the water. Over the years the building was enclosed then abandoned and eventually fell into disrepair. Meyer Associates was hired to provide architectural and engineering services to bring the structure back to its former glory. The project included a structural analysis which led to the determination that the entire support system had to be removed and replaced. Work included selected demolition of non-historic items, installation of new columns, major repairs and patching, and new finishes.
